Why this homepage is called "CyberGKI"?

This is to give a unique name. GKI Homepages in the internet are not merely exist from GKI (General) Synod, West Java, Central Java and East Java. There are already and will exist also other-GKI homepages. Besides, the CyberGKI as a name appropriates with GKI's way naming itself, appropriate with the context and location where it exists. CyberGKI is GKI in cyberspace. Isn't it nice?

Is this CyberGKI an official homepage from GKI?

Yes, CyberGKI contents things in compliance with the life of GKI. CyberGKI is an effort to pace with time, and as we all know church as institution is almost always left behind. The spreading of internet and the growing of Indonesian internauts (internet users) are to precious to be left without care.

The phrase "Indonesia Christian Church" is wrong grammatically,
why CyberGKI uses "Indonesia" instead of "Indonesian"?

The CyberGKI using "Indonesia" instead of "Indonesian" purposely. The name "Indonesian Christian Church" for many people is misleading, presumes that GKI is for Indonesian people only. (I think, similar problem makes "Garuda Indonesian ..." replaced by "Garuda Indonesia"). So, we avoid this impression since theologically incorrect. We avoid also, "Christian Church of Indonesia" or "Christian Church in Indonesia". These phrases separate "Christian Church" from "Indonesia" and either "of" or "in" are not reflected at all in the phrase Gereja Kristen Indonesia. The correct translation might be "Christian Church Indonesia" but precisely for the sake of correct grammatic it should be "Indonesia Christian Church" as we do in CyberGKI. :-)).
After all, this issue reflecting theologically that the Church transcends the grammar.

. Why is GKI entering internet?

CyberGKI believes that internet as a recent hitech vehicle should be used by church. The outstanding sociologist Peter L.Berger said, the very first and the longest religious tradition in the world which confronting and accomodating modernism is the Protestantism Tradition. So, the entrance of GKI into internet appropriates its (protestant) theological teachings.

Where will CyberGKI heading to?

CyberGKI has an intuition regarding internet as global vehicle. Internet can serve ecumenical goal, to obey the Lord's imperative in order that His disciples should be united. The more the churches and Christians to know and to deepen the ecumenical aspiration in cyberspace (or elsewhere), the more the uniting will get its real shape. Would you pray for this?

What is its specific objective?

1) Among approximately 150 thousands members of GKI, not few of them staying in other countries to study, to work or to stay permanently. Their yearning to GKI might reflected as seen in the appearance of many "GKIs" abroad. GKI Netherland for sure, since they admitted it openly, with respect to its own unique and particular history.

2) Internet users among members of GKI are growing, CyberGKI provides new interactive and participative ministry involvement for them. Our ministers doing their cyberpastoral, cybercathecism, cyberbiblestudy etc.

There are bad sides of internet, like pornography, flaming, harassment, hatred, terrorism etc, so there is a danger CyberGKI could be contaminated, isn't it?

Any vehicle has its own goodness and badness. We take the positive side and join the battle against the negative. CyberGKI believes that in joining the truth, the Lord will be at our side. The Word of God said, ... so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves (Mt. 10,16). The word "innocent" here connotates "not contaminated". We will follow this Word of God, to be as wise and as innocent as possible. May God helps us.

It seems that the color of GKI West Java Area stronger than Central and East Java, why?

Perhaps caused only by the prioneering of GKI West Java Area. Later this situation should be equal. Several ministers (from West, Central and East Java) in CyberGKI Team are working on their own parts to overcome the gap.

It seems that the content of CyberGKI only about traditional things like history and creeds, why?

Holding the traditions is the church's life pattern, although not necessarilly being frozen overthere. Any Church or Christian who is seeing these creeds, would see the similarity of GKI with their own creed. This togetherness is one of deliverances to global ecumenical aspiration through internet.

Would CyberGKI be developing anymore?

If the Lord wants it, the journey of CyberGKI will continue, like Abraham who being called by God to go to the land he had never known. Someday, would be possible that ministries as ministered in GKI like catechism, pastoral and lay education can be done online. More than that CyberGKI could be ministering some novelty we have never thought before.

Why should there a column of donation in CyberGKI, isn't that lessen its value and become commercial or some sort of?

CyberGKI exists by dedication and pledge. Even the existing existence is the realization of personal tithe. Giving and receiving offerings should be considered as the characteristics of church. Any pledge will be perceived as participation in this ministry and in doing God's will. Like the GKI's tradition, all pledge will be accounted for and reported openly to its pledge giver, or who else needs it.
